The 2014 Destin Seafood Festival
The 2014 Destin Seafood Festival
Fall in Destin always begins with the Destin Seafood Festival. It’s a local tradition. This year, the 36th Annual Destin Seafood Festival will officially begin on Friday, October 3rd, at four o’clock, and it will run throughout the weekend, showcasing some of the best seafood Destin has to offer.
Destin’s seafood festival tradition began in 1978, founded by the Charter Boat Association’s Women’s Auxiliary as a fundraiser for the local fisherman, and a way to attract visitors to the area. Thirty- six years later the Destin Charter Boat Association carries on the tradition, and the festival has grown into a huge celebration of Destin’s rich marine heritage. This year, over sixty-thousand people are expected to attend for the most amazing seafood, live music, fireworks, arts, crafts, and all around family fun.
Destin Harbor
After a few location changes through the years, the Destin Seafood Festival found it’s home along the harbor boardwalk, beside the fishing fleet, and right at the heart of Destin’s Annual Fishing Rodeo activity. So while you’re enjoying the seafood festival this weekend, be sure to join in the excitement, and watch the Rodeo weigh-ins on the boardwalk, near AJs.
Admission to the seafood festival is free, however donations will be accepted at the soda and beer tents, and also at the Fisherman’s Raffle tent. Parking is sparse, so be prepared to walk a lot, or plan to take a shuttle from Lively Cinema 10, in downtown Destin. You can find more information about the 36th Annual Destin Seafood Festival here.
Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one.
See you there,
